Sycamore Haiku

After vacation, I nearly forgot Friday is poetry day. Here is another garden/nature haiku, which to me seemed a natural poem to follow the beech tree photograph from earlier today. …I like writing these because they are quick and instantly gratifying (when you feel compelled to produce something but don’t have a lot of time), and because the conditions of the form lead to specific, managed places. It’s like buying a ligularia… you can really only plant it in one obvious, wet spot if you want it to survive.

Sycamore leaves fall
Two at a time, and I sit
Alone by the creek.
