Manifesto

This I believe.

  • Gardening is a celebration of life — it is revelation in the sacred ordinary.
  • Gardening is a form of autobiography. Our gardens reveal our life stories.
  • A garden is a safe place — the place where can become our truest selves.
  • A garden, like a soul, need not conform to other people’s interests or ideals.
  • A garden is not defined by its size, state or style. A garden is defined by how the gardener feels about it.

Why do we garden?

In the garden, we can immediately relax. We can wonder and play. We can notice. And fuss. Curse a little. Giggle. Even cry. In the garden, we can find courage, and we will bow in humility. In the garden, we can seek and discover. We can deliberate, ponder, choose. We can try. And we will fail, only to try, try again. In the garden, we can let it all hang out. We can grieve. Recover. Remember. Forget. In the garden, we can experience release and connection all in one breath. Anything is possible. In the garden, we can. And so, we do.
