Hot Wheels: The Fold-It Cart from DWR

I’m often loathe to admit this, but I am a design whore. Most days, it takes all my power not to coo over, buy and pet all the pretty things designers bring to us. I tend to admire them from afar. But, sometimes I pull that thread and spring for something wonderful. And to me, wonderful involves both form and function. Chalk it up to that engineer I dated for 9 years, but I believe great design isn’t great design unless it has valuable utility.

Enter the Fold-It Cart from Design Within Reach. It weighs just 33 pounds, but if you can manage to maneuver it, you can pack it with up to 330 pounds of soil, amendment, tools and plant material. Look how hot it is!

..And how efficiently it packs up! I spotted this in the March 2009 catalog, and of course it’s available online. I am smitten. Smitten I say.

I almost wish I had a “real” garden just so I could have something to haul around in that cart!
