Men who garden really do make the earth move…

Throw away the viagra and start gardening already! It turns out planting a tree, weeding the garden and mowing the lawn (with a push mower folks, not a rider) actually helps men maintain virility or gain stamina in the bedroom. An article in Britain’s Telegraph today reports on a study conducted by the Medical University of Vienna,

As little as 30 minutes a week tending the garden or allotment can dramatically improve men’s performance in bed… Digging, weeding or mowing the lawn for half an hour reduced men’s risk of failing to live up to expectations in bed by more than a third, the survey found. …[Meanwhile,] men who spend even more time in the vegetable patch can more than halve their risk of impotence.

And not for nothing, but I sure “appreciate” it when my guy helps out in the garden. Digging holes for (more) echinacea, weeding round the cucumbers, harvesting lettuce and herbs for our dinner salad, it’s one more way he shows his love and affection for me. So, it’s one more excuse I have to show my love and affection for him, if you know what I’m saying. And, trust me, I hope you do.

And PS — while we’re on the subject, am I the only one who has noticed that men who garden (or who help out in the garden) aren’t just sexier than men who loaf around the house, they’re also more creative and attentive lovers? Do you suppose it’s a manifestation of their love for sensory experiences? Maybe it’s an extension of their playfulness and curiosity? …Maybe it’s just their nature to be hands-on. Whatever the case, I hope this dirty little secret gets out: men who garden, they make the earth move alright.

LOL! I’ll have to forward this to my husband. Not that he’s lacking in that area, but I’ll do whatever I can to get more help moving around heavy bags of dirt and pots…

Oh you are SO right. I bet vacuuming has the same positive benefits! LOL. Nothing like seeing my man tidying up to get my motor running - LOL.

Fern, it IS good to let them know, specifically, what we appreciate. I can imagine M is a big help for lugging those pots and soil bags up the steps to your balcony!

Genevieve, thanks for introducing yourself here! …I tried that line on my husband already, but he held out. My Ryan, master negotiator that he is, realized he could get a lot more mileage from cleaning the bathrooms rather than the carpets! But, he sure is a big help in the garden, tilling the 1200 sq foot veggie patch, helping me water and keeping the backyard well mowed for our bocce games. …They just don’t realize their own power, do they? When they help out around (the house and) garden, we have more time and energy to share, physically and emotionally with them!
